This Paradise Island is situated in the southwest of the gulf of Thailand and is famous for its coconut trees and its dream beaches. It was a perfect holiday destination for us, after our trip to the North of Thailand. It was very difficult for us, not only to be lazy at the beach, but to explore the island, too.

Coconut trees, rice fields, water buffalos, lonely beaches and small villages are the contrast to the hectic tourist centres at the Chaweng or Lamai Beach.

The monastery at the Big Buddha Beach is a place of peace and silence.

At this time Samui was for us the best destination for relaxing holidays under palms. But by our visit 3 years later we were disappointed that Samui lost much of its original Exotik. Now, there are big luxury hotels instead of little beach bungalow resorts, big roads, shopping centres, discotheques, travel agencies, car rentals and lot of more tourists. Sorry, we will not come back again.
