Bombay 1994 Bombay, now Mumbai, was our last stop of our round trip tough India, and a moloch with 15 million inhabitants. 1 million of them live always on the road. Already by the approaching of our plane we could see the many slums. Our stay here was very short. We visited the Gateway of India, the landmark of Bombay and got a small view of the life here during our city tour.
The city offers everything, modern shopping malls beside poorest slums, horrible traffic and building activities. Most fascinating attraction were the open-air laundries. Like before hundreds of years the laundry here is washed, brushed and beat, only by men. Afterwards they put it on the roof of the tin hut for drying. It seems like a wonder, that all the pieces find their owner again.
