On our way to Udaipur, we also visited the largest and holiest Jain temple area of India in Ranakpur. The sanctuary lie embedded in the wildly beautiful landscape of Aravali mountains where we could watch the Indian rural life with dried cow chips, mill and water wheels. Many times we felt to be in a biblically scenes. |

The temples are simply imposing and beautiful. The huge main temple consists of 29 geometrically arranged halls with 1444 sculptured pillars and 72 ornate shrines, all a unique masterpiece of stone carving. A priest guided us for a small donation through the halls and told us the importance of the individual representations. |
