Malaysia

Malaysia
the island state in Southeast Asia between Thailand and the island Borneo is a
special travel country. That predominantly Islamic state with its many people
mixture belonged to the leading industrial nations in Asia, respective well is
also the infrastructure. There are many palm oil, rubber- and tea-plantations,
and enormous national parks. The islands Penang and Langkawi are famous tourist
destinations.

Kuala Lumpur, the capital, is a mixture from east
and west. Skyscrapers, like the famous twin Towers are the landmarks of the
western culture, the railway station with its north Indian-Islamic architectural
style as well as the large mosque or Chinatown reflect the eastern culture again.

We started our Malaysia journey in Kuala Lumpur. The
city is different than the usual Asian metropolises. The social life is formed
by the Islamic religion, but it is most open-minded and modern. We had never the
feeling that the people must subject to a religious dictation.

From Kuala
Lumpur we went by car up to the Cameron Highlands. Here it looks like in
England. Landscape and houses are very British. A visit in the tea-plantations
is very recommend. Here you can see the tea-production from picking up the
leaves till to the sales.

Over the largest bridge of Asia (13,5 km) we arrived
Penang. Here we spent our relaxing beach life.

Unfortunately the sea is not clear and not of best
quality, so that it was better to jump in the hotel pool. Georgetown, the island
capital with its colonial quarter is a worthwhile trip, if one like to make a
break from being lazy.
