Mexico
Mexico
is not without reason a preferential tourist country. 10000 km coast line with
famous destinations like Acapulco or Cancun, the old-Mexican past and the
innumerable archaeological places in the jungle tempting many visitors. Each
culture, whether of the Mayan and Aztecs or the Spanish conquerors left in
Mexico great pyramids, temples or churches. In the spring, we flew to Cancun in
the Yucatan Peninsula, in the southeast of Mexico, at the Caribbean Sea. But
this big holiday destination was only the start point of our 10-days round trip
through Yucatan.

Our first stop was Tulum, which was the only built
temple city of the Mayas at the sea. We were inspired of the spectacular place
at the Caribbean Sea. Coba and Uxmal, in the middle of the jungle were further
highlights of the Mayan architecture.

Merida the capital of Yucatan, has always keep its
colonial charm. We spent one weekend there and could see both, the busy markets
and the Sunday family-live. A big attraction for us was it, to visit the
Governor palace with the enormous wall paintings of the painter Pacheo, which
shows history and life of the Mayan.

Our last
station of the round trip and the absolute highlight was Chichen Itza, the best
investigated most rebuilt antiquity place Yucatans. Erhard climbed up
courageously the enormous pyramid and was inspired by the view over this
spectacular excavation place.

From our round trip we relaxed a few days at the
beaches of Cancun.
