Baan Grood |
|
Baan Grood or also called Ban Krut was our first stop on our tour by hired car from Phuket to Bangkok. Here at the 12 km long beach on the Gulf of Thailand, you can relax well for a few days. The beach belongs mostly the locals and a few travelers. The parallel to the sea running Beach Road, you can easily explore with bicycles or motor bikes. The scenery is wonderful, palm trees line most of the wide bay and there is nothing which obstructed the view. Serenity and pure nature. |

The small town itself is a typical Thai street settlement. Motorbikes with sidecar which are often used for transporting all kinds of goods and people dominated the scene, but all is easy going even if it goes crisscross. Here everybody has enough time, nothing is in hurry. |

At one of our beach walks to the north of the bay we passed the fishing port, where the boats were just unloaded. Not really spectacular but with lots of local flavor. We were right in the middle again and not just a bystander. |
|
An interesting excursion destination is located at the northern end of the bay, the Temple Wat Phra Mahathat, whose huge statue of Buddha sits above the gray-blue sea and is visible from afar. Further up is the imposing temple complex. Unfortunately, you can not take photos inside, what we have, of course, respected. But the exterior is worth seeing enough. |

We stayed here in one of the few, good hotels. Baan Grood Arcadia is located just across the less frequented road from the beach and offers everything you need for a relaxing holiday. We felt very comfortable here in Baan Grood for these view days and can recommend this area for a quiet short stay |
