Thonburianother Bangkok

We visited Bangkok many times and therefore we already know almost
all the sights and peculiarities of the city. What we don’t know was
the other side of the Chao Phraya River, the sister city of
Thonburi.

The
life
here at the water's very special and so different from the modern
hectic of Bangkok. We drove through very, very small channels
full of water hyacinths, visited orchid farms and orchards.
We are particularly impressed from the varans, these animals are the
pets of the Thais in order to put off the python snakes.
Then we went on by foot, sometimes it was a little bit adventurous
on the shaky and slippery boardwalks, past and also trough the
"living room" of the people.
Another highlight was the market Talaat Wang Lang, a colourful food and clothing market with hundreds of food stalls. Here you can see and feel the real life without any other tourists. We could not shoot photos as much as we saw here. It was wonderful!
Of course here in Thonburi there are also, beside the famous Wat
Arun, a lot of other beautiful Wats, which are all worth seeing. But
what we noticed here was, that Wats, Chinese temples, mosques and
Christian churches are side by side. Such a religious diversity in a
very small area we had never seen before, and it seems there are no
problems with it.
We can just recommend everyone to explore this other Bangkok and you will be off the beaten tracks. We liked it very well, not least because the leadership of the “Green Mango" Tours was just great.
