From
the long journey we relaxed in Sanur, a small quiet and calm, but also a
touristic town, in the southeast of the island. Small shops, restaurants and
more are placed along the streets. Again and again you can see beautifully
carved doors, which are the entrance into the inner courts of the Balinese
houses. |

Our hotel, “Raddin Sanur” was situated in the middle of a fantastic tropical garden and has a broad sandy beach with many palm trees. Unfortunately the hotel guests were mostly older than we and “very German”. Because at 9.00 o'clock in the morning, all sun beds at the beach were covered by their towels. |

From Sanur you can reach Denpasar, the capital of Bali, in 30 minutes by car. It was a horrible traffic. We thought that each Balinese have no less than one car and two motorbikes. The most sightseeing event here is the market with its various multicoloured goods. On our excursion we were guided by a nice, old Balinese woman and had so the possibility to see the normal and not the touristic market life. It was a very nice experience. |

One of the few objects of interest Denpasars is the Pura Jagatnatha temple, a most important sanctuary of Bali. Naturally we could not ignore that, but there are far more beautiful and larger temples in Bali. |
