Angkor Wat
and
temple hill Phnom Bakheng
3 days are the minimum stay here to visit the main temple arrear of Angkor. But before entering the temple district you must buy the Angkor visitor ticket. We took a 3-day ticket for US $40/per person. It is not really cheap but it was worth each penny because on those 1.5 x 1.3 km large areas you can find the grateful masterpieces of Khmer architecture. Already at the view of entrance area can suspect you which great buildings you will expect you inside. It is only great! Everywhere filigree sculptures. Behind each corner a new object of interest. We climbed up the steeply steps of pyramid in the heart of the area. In the heat it was very sudorific for us, but the view on the top was breathtaking.
A fantastic view there is also at the temple hill Phnom Bakheng. In steep, strongly eroded stages we climbed up in the late afternoon. Arrived at the top you have beautiful view of the towers of Angkor Wat and the lake Tonle Sap. The temples here are very nice too, but the most tourists, native people and also many monks come up because of the sunset.
