Cambodia
The magnificent temples of Angkor fascinated us already for a long time past. We
liked to see and expired this rich cultural heritage and so we visit Angkor for
3 nights, just after our journey trough Vietnam. We flew from Saigon to Siem
Reap.
Here you are not only confronted with old history, but also with the past
atrocity of the time of war. "Killing Fields" is nearly everywhere. But the
people are mostly optimistic and positive adjusted despite suffered cruelties.
Everywhere you can feel a fundamental good change.
The
tourism is very important for the people, you can notice this by paying
anything. The national currency "Riel" is not so much populating as the US
dollar. You can pay everything in dollar. We therefore called Cambodia “the one
dollar country”, because the price for everything is always minimum one dollar.
During our trip through SE
Asia in 2011 we made a stop in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia.
