Hongkong Island 2013 |
||||||||||
This time we stayed again in Kowloon with a fantastic view to the harbour and Hong Kong Island. It is always a great fun to go by the Star Ferry to HK Island and it is also the best and cheapest sightseeing tour through the Victoria Harbour. |

Arriving at the completely redesigned new Central Pier at HK Island you are immediately in the middle of the skyscrapers, big construction areas and a permanent traffic rush hour. But there are also parks and green oases and this places are the favourites of the working people, lokals and tourists, mostly at lunchtime or in the afternoon. |

We looked forward to the old colourful trams and had already fear, that they would slowly disappear from the cityscape, but they are still there in all its diversity.

To visit the peak again was also a must, but this idea had hundreds of people, too and so we had to wait first 30 Minutes till the steep ride to the top. The ride itself is an attraction, because you drive here directly close to the skyscrapers and there are great views, which are topped only from the observation deck at the peak. The panoramic view from up here is just amazing and beautiful. |

There were many, mainly young Asian tourists here, who made a lot of selfies in all kind of positions. All cafes, souvenir shops and restaurants were full of them and it was very crowdy. For the return trip, we did not take the peaktram, because the queue was infinitely long, but the minibus. It took us through the beautiful mountain scenery within 30 min. down to Central. |

One of the wonderful experiences in HK it is to stand on the harbour side during the twilight and then later in the dark to look to the illuminated HK Island. Sure, of course we were not alone, we were together with hundreds of people who enjoy this scenery too, but it's just uniquely beautiful and impressive when all the lights switch on at HK Island. |
||||||||||
It becomes much more crowdy when the Symphony of Lights starts at 8 clock, but this spectacle we could enjoy very well from our hotel room. |

If somebody speaks of Hong Kong, it means always Hong Kong Island, and this not without reason. |
